Almere, the Netherlands
Mitsubishi Turbocharger and Engine Europe B.V. (MTEE) and Koedood Marine Group (Koedood) have signed a joint development agreement for an EU Stage V solution for the inland waterway market. Since the 1st of January 2020, new propulsion and auxiliary engines above 300 kW for inland waterway vessels need to comply with the EU Stage V emission regulations. As the leading suppliers of propulsion and auxiliary systems to this market in Europe, MTEE and Koedood are joining forces.
The development consists of a certified EU Stage V Mitsubishi Marine Engine and after-treatment lineup for propulsion and auxiliary. The lineup is based on the Mitsubishi SR and SA-series, providing an output range from 470 kW up to 1960 kW. The tests and developments are performed at TNO1.
The development is a co-creation, where MTEE provides the technical engine knowledge and engineering support and Koedood its innovative leadership and inland waterway expertise. With the development, both parties want to ensure a durable, quality product with a quick time to market, compliant to the EU Stage V regulations. With the support of MTEE, Koedood will be the dedicated party for bringing these certified solutions to the market.
Peter Snijders from Koedood “We are very proud to offer a dedicated solution for the inland waterways, no compromises. Together with our long-term partner Mitsubishi we have taken the engine platforms and the after-treatment system from Koedood/Emigreen and are optimizing them together to realize the ideal settings for emissions, durability, reliability and economy for our global customers.”
The cooperation between MTEE and Koedood is based on their long-term partnership and mutual trust and respect for each other’s expertise. “Our Mitsubishi marine engines are used around the globe in a large variety of applications. This shows the appreciation for our product, yet also makes it challenging to comply with all the different market needs. The inland waterways is an important market for us and by entering into this strategic partnership with our respected distributor Koedood, I am confident we are answering to the needs of this market.” says Morten Brix, General Manager at MTEE.
